In April 1994, Case Western Reserve University was recipient of a five-year grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a component of the National Institutes of Health, to establish a Center For AIDS Research (CFAR) as one of eleven centers located throughout the country. The broad goal of the CWRU CFAR is to coordinate its clinical and basic research activities through the provision of core support facilities, short-term developmental funds, support of seminar series and symposia, and community-based education programs.
